Introduction

EUnetHorse is the first equine-focused project funded by the Horizon Europe. The project aims to improve the resilience of equine farms across Europe driving innovation in the industry by collaborative experimentation and best practices.

Content

EUnetHorse is a project funded by the Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Programme (Grant Agreement No. 101086551) run from 2023 to 2027. Fifteen partners and nine countries - Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, and Switzerland – are involved in this collaborative effort, bringing together universities, research centers, agricultural chambers, breed associations, and industry experts across Europe.

The main goal of EUnetHorse is to foster connections among different sectors of the equine industry (sports, leisure, racing, breeding, food production, etc) by focusing on the engagement of equine farmers, advisors, and trainers and ultimately adopting best practices. By working all together, the resilience of the equine sector will be improved.

The work is being carried out in several key phases: (1) identification of equine farmers’ needs; (2) finding solutions for those needs; (3) evaluation of solutions; (4) adaptation of solutions; and (5) dissemination of solutions thought several transfer activities such as training and demonstrations days.

Participation

EHN (European Horse Network) contributed by funding the preparation phase of the project. Actually, several members of EHN are very active members of EUnetHorse project’s European Advisory Board (EAB).
